The Workplace Garden addresses the current landscape concerning the well being of the working American public. As it looks presently, we've still got some issues. We are facing challenges such as obesity, stress, drug and substance abuse, musculoskeletal problems and more. With Americans spending a whopping 33% of our lives working, it is essential that this time spent is healthy and nurturing. Thanks to the developing awareness surrounding corporate wellness programs, we are living in an era where corporations are indeed beginning to invest in the health and well being of their employees. However, there is much work still to be done. Our film follows the story of a select few corporations in the United States who are exemplifying the standard bars for a healthy life at work. Being able to put the lens on individual companies allows us to see what a good company culture truly looks like from the inside. We talk to experts and authors from around the country who help us reflect on why it is not only the right thing to do, but as to why the benefits for a good corporate wellness policy are overwhelmingly positive and obvious for implementation. The core of every good wellness program is behavior change. With the right education, motivation, skills/tools, and social support, people change behaviors. Wellness programs are good at helping people adopt and maintain healthy behaviors.
