Bernhard 'Willem' Holtrop is one of the most controversial cartoonists of Europe. His cartoons have led to a range of responses: prices and lawsuits are the result of Willem's fascination of sex and power. Who is this man and from what perspective does he draw? 'Willem' is the cartoonist of Paris newspaper 'Libération' and the weekly 'Charlie Hebdo'. His work -seamlessly fitting within the classic French cartoon tradition- has often caused uproar because 'Willem' loves mocking the authorities by linking them to sex and intestines. His work has delivered him many prices, including the Dutch Press Cartoon prize. 'De Koele Woede' looks for the sources of his work and how he transforms them into an artistic universe. A universe in which his wife Medi plays a big role. 'De Koele Woede' is a documentary about love, amidst the violence and tyranny of his cartoons.
