Platonic (2020)

Dee leaves the army after her best friend Isaac is killed in action. Her new job as a waitress leaves her feeling isolated amongst her colleagues and customers whose trivial concerns mean nothing to her. On New Years Eve, she silently observes the happiness of party-goers. This brings back happy and painful memories of her past. She notices a mysterious woman who looks almost as despondent as Dee feels. As they make eye contact, Dee feels seen for the first time in a very long time. In the stressful loud kitchen her anxiety heightens and regular details take on the characteristics of war. Trying to escape the noise only makes matters worse and she must confront the most painful memory of all.
