The Lost Shoes accounts the existential and political journey of Armando Lanza, former logistic mastermind of Red Brigades when they kidnap US General James Lee Dozier in 1981. The film reconstructs Armando's childhood in rural north-east Italy, his period of study at the Comboniani's and then focuses on his political experience first as militant in the ranks of the Revolutionary Left then in the Red Brigades which he joined after they took on NATO. The film intertwines Lanza's life with a revolutionary political season, tries to trace an historical discourse on a generation of communists who tried with different strategies to transform Italy and the world, who faced the extreme consequences of their decisions and now want to reflect on their political experience and life.
