Silicon Mountain is a documentary that explores the cycle of e-waste and what companies in the electronic recycling industry are doing to solve the problem. It's a problem that most people have no clue about. But consider that the US throws away 416,000 smartphones every day. That equates to 152 million smartphones every year. Or that E-Waste comprises 70% of our overall toxic waste. But there many eco-friendly, low waste solutions for reaching sustainability and achieving a more circular economy. Recycling one million laptops saves the energy equivalent of powering 3,657 homes, according to the EPA. So there's a lot that can be done. But awareness is the first step.
