Prosecutor Fréderic Maillard is exhausted but also very happy with himself after a long murder case in which he succeeded (without any evidence) in persuading the jury to sentence the young composer Valorin to death. His wife and friends celebrate and congratulate him generously, carrying him in triumph as a bullfight matador. However, Valorin has escaped from prison, he manages to find the prosecutor's address - and arrives at Maillard's home armed with proof that he is innocent. TV adaptation of Aymé's play from 1952.
