Alone, Together (2009)

Over the course of one panic-stricken evening, magician Robert Wexford searches for his girlfriend Jean, after she tragically disappears during a vanishing act. He visits Jean's apartment, only to discover a middle-aged man cooking dinner. The man informs Robert that he has never heard of Jean. In defeat, Robert goes home. He receives a mysterious phone call, in which Jean's voice is heard on the other end. She seems to be in distress. In a panic, Robert visits Jean's mother, who claims she has never had a daughter. Robert becomes lost in thought, hoping Jean will reappear. Seeking guidance, he visits Leo, a magician who has also fallen on hard times. Their conversation results in Robert taking action. He decides to enter the box used in the vanishing act, and fades away into a memory.
