Weight of Light

The teenage garbage-picker Surya (16) finds an old-fashioned photo camera in the vast garbage dump of India's capital. Instead of selling it, the girl decides to secretly keep the camera to herself. Surya's father has found for her daughter a groom who agrees to marry the dark-skinned girl if he gets a motorcycle as dowry. When Surya's father searches desperately for money to buy the motorcycle, he reaches a solution that forces Surya to turn the photo camera from a means of self-expression into the means of self-defense.
