Sit Down Stand Up (2023)

Young comedian Feroz Al-Fulani (Del Eswar) dreams of selling out arenas with his gut-busting jokes but just can't seem to break past open mics and waiting tables. Until he gets a mysterious invitation from Jack Coyne (Nick Job), yesterday's comedy legend, today's public enemy number one. Along with seven other "chosen" aspiring stand-ups, Feroz finds himself at a secret location, where Jack reveals that after years of living as a recluse, he is planning to return in a big way and that he has hired the eight to write him a new act over the course of the night. Jack declares that the one who impresses him the most will get the life-changing opportunity to join him on his comeback tour and open for him. Wanting to seize his moment with both hands, Feroz dives in earnestly. But the others' personal ambitions start to derail the group's collaboration, driving Jack mad and turning everyone against each other. Mistrust is fomented, rivalries are formed, and sabotage runs rampant, causing Feroz to wonder whether his career will be over before it even starts.
