Director Uberto Pasolini’s adaptation of Homer’s Odyssey brings Ralph Fiennes and Juliette Binoche back together in a film inspired by classical traditions. Over two decades have passed since Odysseus departed his kingdom to fight in the Trojan War, and during this long absence, his wife and queen, Penelope, have remained faithful. Their son, Telemachus, has lost hope in his father's return and fears for his mother's safety as a group of increasingly unruly suitors pressure her to choose a new king. Odysseus, now barely recognizable as the great warrior he once was, slowly returns to a desolate island. Meanwhile, Penelope diligently works on a red quilt, vowing to select a suitor only once it is complete, a symbol of her enduring hope. As Odysseus finally makes his presence known, Penelope sets an iconic and well-known challenge for him to prove his true identity amidst a nest of power-hungry men.
