Sang Li Before Christmas (2014)

When Sang Li, a news anchorwoman in Qingdao, China reports on a young woman's meth overdose, she begins to question her own happiness. Sang Li is caught in the bureaucracy of China's corrupt media machine -- she's a successful, prominent journalist but without agency to express her opinions or guide an investigation. A drug user herself, she seeks escape from her morally compromised world during one particularly charged holiday season in this bustling coast city Qingdao, where the streets are filled with Western images of Christmas.
