Haziran Yangini (2015)

Istanbul Municipality decided to construct a shopping mall destroying the Gezi park. A group of activists decided to act against this by building tents in the park. Police intervention to this act was very harsh. They burnt the activists tents, used tear gas and pressure water. This disproportional violence caused a great reaction in society. Police intervention in Ankara was even more harsh in Ankara than in Istanbul. On the 1st of June the police used real bullets in Kizilay square. Ethem Sarisülük, 26, is fatally injured by a bullet to his head. The news were in headlines all around the world. While Ethem loses the battle for his life, his family's battle for justice starts that will continue for years.
