In this documentary, avid surfers, both professional and amateur, tackle the "liquid space" of the ocean waters in Hawaii's North Shore Pipeline. Giant waves test the athletes, some of whom succeed in riding to the open end of the waves, while underwater shots show what happens as others "wipeout" and fall. Optical effects, such as color filtration and superimposition, highlight the action, which includes demonstrations from surfing champions David Nuuhiwa, Gavin Rudolph, Owl Chapman and Angie Reno. In addition, interviews with male and female enthusiasts are presented, as well as scenes of surfers partying on the beach.
