Katwe is a poverty-stricken neighborhood in Kampala, Uganda, home to Phiona Mutesi, a young girl who discovers her exceptional talent for chess. Under the guidance of her coach, Robert Katende, and despite numerous difficulties, Phiona develops a passion for the game and becomes a prodigy competing at the international level.
