Alex Gottfarb, star tenor and celebrated interpreter of Orpheus, is not alone. His inner house is inhabited by the shy Alexander, the sexy Sandra, the teenager Lex and the wonder child Xandi - characters of his split identity. Alex takes up contact with the persons who populate his inner world assisted by his répétiteur Helene, who loves him, as well as his psychoanalyst Dr. Fränger. A turbulent cascade of events and tragic-comic misunderstandings pursues Alex in a battle for identity, love and freedom.
