This Oovie School Film was made by Erskine Park High School. Dream Island is set on an Island far, far away and follows the story of Beau, a creative little boy and his little dog Peppi. It all begins when Beau find a strange compass in the water when he and Peppi were on their usual walk around the island. It had unfamiliar markings on it but started rapidly spinning, so Beau decided to follow it and see where it took him. The compass leads him around the island, providing some pretty spectacular shots of the island and the harbour around it. At each stop, Beau pulls out his spyglass and sees a different scenario. These scenarios range from a couple breaking up to a young girl feeling ashamed by the way she looks. Beau feels sad when he sees that these people are so unhappy when his life is worry free. When flying a kite with Peppi, he came up with an idea to send messages from the island to these people. With the help of Peppi he fills the balloons with helium, ties a note to the end and lets them go. The notes read messages such as 'you're beautiful' and 'your life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.' He looks through his spyglass to see the balloons fly over and find the people they are addressed to, hovering beside them on a park bench or tapping against their window. The messages cheer them up and make them think differently about the situations they are in. The moral of the story is that although things may not be going like you wish, the world isn't over. Sometimes all you need is that one person to believe in you for you to see life in a different way and follow your dreams. The film is aimed at teenagers and young adults however in saying that its a films that all audiences will enjoy. The photography will be the main part of this film, highlighting the most stunning parts of the island and its harbour and city background. The balloons flying away will also provide some brilliant shots. But most importantly, I hope that everybody watching this film will leave with a smile on their face.
