The Range (2016)

The Range follows Sam; a 10-year-old mixed descent Aboriginal boy, and his journey through the Australian outback as he attempts to traverse a local mountain range. Sam is forced to make this journey after fleeing his birthday party when his drunken father breaks his restraining order and violently crashes his party. Dressed in his lion suit and with the aid of his Aboriginal grandfather, Sam escapes and must get to higher ground to get phone reception and call the police. To make matters worse, he must make this journey with his father in close pursuit and is confronted with choices that challenge his ideas on his father and his place within a mixed heritage family.
