Wild Bill is an expat serial killer who murdered people for their real estate in the tropical Panamanian archipelago of Bocas del Toro on the Caribbean side. It took a while for the inhabitants of the scenic island chain to realize what was going on. It wasn't until the sister of one of the victims showed up to find out about her missing brother. As the investigation ensues, a number of the colorful residents, mostly expats, realize that they really didn't know anything about most of their neighbors, but particularly about the killer in their midst. After Wild Bill is captured trying to escape to Guatemala, a number of the locals realize that they were in some way complicit. Their dreams of paradise collide with the hard reality of murder in an exotic location. While inspired by actual events, this movie is a work of fiction and not to be taken as a factual account of any real happenings. The characters are definitely fictional and are not intended to represent actual individuals, living or dead. Rather the depictions are of an emotional, psychological and social cohort of prototypes, not unlike the kind of people who might live, work and/or vacation in a place like Bocas del Toro.
