In 1890 France, an inventor vanished from a train station in Dijon days before an appointment to patent his invention. Neither his corpse nor his luggage was ever found on the Dijon-Paris express or along the railway. A year after his mysterious disappearance Thomas Edison and William Kennedy Dickson took credit for the invention, filing and receiving the patent in 1891. The inventor's body was never found and his mysterious disappearance was never solved. His private papers are still privately held in the United States.
