Storyline:  In late 1940s Chile, Pablo Neruda is persecuted for his affiliation with the Communist Party. When an inspector is assigned to arrest him, the poet becomes a fugitive within his own country, using disguises and coded messages to evade capture while continuing to write and maintain contact with supporters.
