I'm an Actor (2015)

"I'm An Actor" is a short documentary comparing the lives of a young Cuban actor and his American counterpart, revealing what is universal, and what is unique, about the struggle to live as an artist in these two, very distinct countries. Through interviews and footage of the actors auditioning, rehearsing, working and relaxing, the viewers get a small glimpse into their lives and a greater sense of what it means to define oneself as an actor. The film explores the actors' backgrounds and how they came to acting; their struggle to gain support and respect from their families and friends; their process and the work that goes into acting on a daily basis; their identities and the impact race has on their careers; the many benefits and challenges of being an actor; as well as their ambitions for the future.
