25 year old Cate Cahill works as cartographer for Google's Emergency Rescue Team. While getting to know the handsome Beaudry she discovers that she is HIV positive. Unable to find the courage to tell Beaudry about her newly acquired condition, she gives up all together a chance at love. As she struggles with her own interpretations of what it means to be HIV positive and how that will articulate with her reality, Cate decides to go home and disclose to her mother Maggie. Finding herself in the same situation, she keeps this as a secret... until Maggie accidentally discovers the truth and confronts her. Both mother and daughter enter an emotional and inspiring journey that ultimately brings them closer together than ever before. Because of this, Cate regains her strength and sense of self back, accepting who she is and that her ability to love and be loved first comes from the internal acceptance of her own identity.
