"Biography, Battles & Bernard" is a documentary detailing the personal and professional life and struggles of former Los Angeles Police Chief and City Councilmember Bernard C. Parks. His story takes viewers from his birthplace in racially-tense Beaumont, Texas in the 1940's to the place where he would become an icon: L.A. Parks' experiences with historic racial uprisings, including the Beaumont Riot (which played a role in his family's move to L.A.) to the Watts Riot and 1992 Riot (when he was a member of LAPD) put him in the center of pivotal events in recent Los Angeles history. Tracing Parks' career from street cop to Chief of Police and finally, Los Angeles City Councilman, "Biography, Battles & Bernard" is an exhaustive look at one man's critical role in the birth of a new Los Angeles.
