From now on, the married couple Anja and Frank Mendt fell into a nightmare on their sailing holiday on Rügen. They leave six-year-old Finn and eleven-year-old Leila alone for a few minutes in the harbor of the Baltic Sea resort of Binz. When the parents return, their boat and the children have disappeared. They immediately alert the local police, but their search remains unsuccessful. That is why the LKA officer Werner Kempin takes over the case after a few hours. Somebody who Frank hates because of a family tragedy from GDR times really wants to help: his father Herbert Winter, a former Stasi officer who had to leave the police service after the fall of the Wall. He sees disturbing parallels to an unexplained abduction of siblings in 1988 and seems to be right. That is why the experienced Kempin agrees that his former colleague can pick up the old track again. This leads winter to further victims and foreshadows terrible things. In his unofficial investigations, he is accompanied by the police officer Bentje Vogt and Frank, who finds it difficult to jump over his shadow even in this emergency. Meanwhile, mother Anja and LKA boss Kempin are anxiously waiting for the kidnapper to report. The fear is growing that this is not about ransom.
