Paul Dubois, a widowed retired geography teacher, lives a secluded life in his apartment cluttered with geography textbooks and piles of unopened mail... Only his grandson seems to remind him the world is still going round. Dubois is delighted to welcome him for his eighth birthday, on the 26th of this month. But his peaceful and solitary life comes to an end, when he is told his last direct debit for the rent didn't get through. Dubois discovers that his pension has been reduced. The reason: the reform of the supplementary old-age pension, to which he is no longer eligible. What should a man of seventy-eight do when he is left out of pocket? Go to charity? Seek money from his daughter he barely sees? Dubois is a proud man who will fend for himself whatever it takes....
