Andreas Baader lies in a pool of blood on the cell floor, Gudrun Ensslin hangs on a cable at the window's grille, Jan-Carl Raspe lies badly injured beside a gun on the ground. He dies a little later in the intensive care unit. Two years earlier, another detainee on the 'terrorist floor' of Stammheim prison took her own life: Ulrike Meinhof.
