After breaking up with her longtime boyfriend, Katie goes to a yard sale in attempts to cheer herself up. When she receives a gift from an old neighbor in the form of an answering machine tape, she begins to listen to it, and hears a story of lost love from Nora, which leads her to reconnect with Michael, her ex-boyfriend.
