Krauses Glück (2016)

Retired Police Chief Superintendent Horst Krause and his sister Elsa manage an inn in Schönhorst, yet Krause finds little joy in it. Meanwhile, his energetic friend Schlunzke anticipates his beloved doctor Ramona moving into his newly renovated castle. However, Mayor Stübner needs to house a Syrian family, derailing Schlunzke's plans. Krause steps in to assist, quickly becoming embroiled in a flurry of activity as two distinct cultures collide, presenting numerous challenges beyond just language barriers. Krause's efforts to foster a welcoming atmosphere in the village and with the mayor alienate some. The situation escalates when his sister Meta from Cologne appears unexpectedly, possibly fleeing a failed marriage with the unreliable Rudi. Amidst these tumultuous events, Krause finds himself indispensable, discovering his happiness in being there for others.
