Verse for Verse (2006)

A documentary of an experiment of the new and old. What happens if we take 10 young Hip-hop artists, male and female and 1 copy of the complete works of Shakespeare unabridged. "What a Piece of work is man," indeed. Verse for Verse is the two day workshop of an 8 week interactive class that placing 6 young hip-hop writer/performers in a learning environment to introduce them or future their understanding of William Shakespeare. There are countless examples of blank and irregular verse in numerous rap songs. The fact that most of the persons creating this art form, are unaware of the similarities to Shakespeare. The project punctuated with a life performance, involving classical and graffiti artist, a live orchestra, and DJs.
