Devdas (1982)

Devdas is a young man from a wealthy Bengali Brahmin family. Parvati is a young woman from a middle class Bengali family. The two families lived in the same village and Devdas and Paro are childhood friends. Devdas goes Kolkata for study. During vacations, he returns to his village. Suddenly both realize they are in affair with each other. Devdas realizes Parvati is no longer the small girl he knew. Paro looks forward to their childhood love blossoming into their lifelong journey together in marriage. But for the low caste of Parvati's family, Devdas's father does not take this well. Two childhood sweethearts departs from each other at this and misery starts at life of Devdas.
