Through a Class Darkly is a feature film/musical written, directed and composed by award-winning filmmaker, author, and East Carolina University professor Michael Tierno. The film stars Amanda Higgins, who plays Madeline, a college freshmen faced with more than just your usual challenges at school. When she learns she has been chosen by her philosophy professor (Eric Roberts) to stop a rash of student suicides and in fact save all existence from ending, she has some hard decisions to make. Joined by a partying roommate (Amber Sweet), a new love interest (Matthew Blake Johnson), a sexy researcher (Avery Hobbs), and a "Miscreant" (Lexie Wolfe) who promises her immortality if only she'll "pledge," Madeline is in for a real education - and an intense existential crisis - during her first semester.
