The Outer Rim (2017)

Video Log #10: Two scientists are on the brink of a massive discovery -- a discovery that defies belief, and questions the impossible. While attempting to broadcast the data of their research out to the world, their laboratory is compromised, and the transmission is interrupted. Richard and Claire must choose between saving their work, or their lives. Richard secures the escape of his wife and child, at the expense of his own. All that remains of their research is in a single, unremarkable box. 18 years later, Richard's work has been entirely lost; no one knows anything about it. There is, however, a young orphan, with little knowledge of his own past, who trapped in a world he doesn't want to be in. Gaard is desperate for change, and will stop at nothing to get it. But, on his 18th birthday, as part of the last Will & Testament of his biological parents, he is given a strange box which once belonged to his father. As Gaard discovers where he came from, he also manages to find a series of 10 Video Logs (one of which is missing). What he's about to see will change not only his knowledge of the past, but the course of his future.
