A man lives in a small town in the Northern US; he is an extremely meticulous man with a mysterious obsession with photography. Every day he shoots the same series of pictures in a specific time of the day. He's living an ordinary life until a woman moves next door. His initial interest in her develops into an obsession. He is, as always, stuck in his world, unable to have normal human contact. The picture-taking motif is connected with his father, the only person with which he has a concrete relationship in his life. He still cannot be independent from this unseen father figure that fostered his fascination with photography, though, forever bound to him through his bizarre daily rituals. It is, for Mathew, the only way to "stop time" and experience the nostalgia of the past. When, finally, he tries to interact with her he realizes that he is stifled by his inability to interact. He becomes aware of his tragic situation - he realizes that his life is not an ordinary life, rather it's a vicious cycle of mechanical, lonesome rituals and secret obsessions.
