The short animation film, "Chororo - Music of Europe Beyond Prejudice" tells the story of a Roma boy, who, during World War Two, is traveling from Bucharest to Paris through the war-torn Europe, hoping to find his idol: The renowned jazz guitarist, Django Reinhardt. The journey will change his life, and others, forever. This short animation film is an adventure during the 40's when it was a delicate situation especially for the Jewish and Roma people, who were perceived differently depending on geographic area. The production of the animation accurately renders those troubled times, this being possible thanks to a documentation process. Writings, documents and photos were collected, that represent traditions, music and customs of the Roma and others faithfully. The life of Django Reinhardt had to be researched, too, including the architecture and clothing of his time. The project "Chororo" aims to promote diversity in culture and art in the European cultural heritage, increase cultural dialogue and protect European identity by understanding cultural diversity. It was financed by a grant from Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein and the Romanian Government program PA17 / RO13.
