In 1348 death was cheap. People died from plague, sickness, starvation, war or execution. Often the law was bended unjustly favouring the rich over the poor. The life of a peasant is sometimes no life at all. In such a time, a blacksmith and his ill daughter must overcome all prejudiced odds.
