The Kalunga community of Engenho II lived in relative isolation, until the 80s, when the dirt road connecting the city to the quilombo was built. Quilombos are the territories occupied by ethnic-racial groups with black ancestry related to resistance to the historical oppression and slavery in Brazil. The film shows the conclusion of an ancient Catholic ritual in which the community pays respect and asks Saint Anthony for benediction. During the procession, they sing traditional songs along with the Kalunga musical band of worshipers.
