Late at night while listening to violent news coverage, a street photographer reviews the day's shots inside his lonely high-rise apartment. He fixates on a candid shot of a young woman crying. The photographer fixes himself a plate of food and, using his camera's telephoto lens, peers into a neighbouring apartment. The woman from the photos is there, arguing with a man who appears to be her husband. The photographer entertains himself by watching and taking photos. The next night, the man and woman argue again, and again the photographer watches through his zoom lens. When the man loses his temper and strikes the woman, the shocked photographer captures the abuse on his camera. Not knowing what to do with this photographic evidence - not only of the violence in the neighbouring apartment, but also of his own voyeurism - the photographer paces his gloomy apartment. Looking through the zoom lens once more, he sees the tearful young woman sitting alone in the dark with a knife held to her wrist. Her husband emerges from the shadows, and as he places a hand upon her shoulder she turns and stabs him to death. Heart pounding, the photographer captures shot after shot before backing away from the window in horror. Some days later, the photographer turns off the nightly news to take one last look into the neighbouring apartment. Upon seeing the woman staring back at him, he lowers his camera. He steps in from the balcony and deletes the pictures.
