Neema (Kenyan) and Ryan (American) are engaged and preparing for their wedding, when Neema's Father comes into town asking for Dowry. Neema having lost touch with traditions and her "out of date" cultural practices must decide whether to respect her father and his Kikuyu practices or stand with Ryan and her new found Western lifestyle.
