It is mentioned that Rodney King was an alcoholic and that he drove under the influence. Roger mimics drinking from a bottle of Jack Daniel's throughout the show.

The real 911 call made by King's partner, Cynthia Kelley, when she found his body at the bottom of the pool, is heard during the opening credits. This might be distressing for some.
