Bernhard Schimpelsberger is a percussionist from Austria, composing genre defying music from collected sounds on his travels around the world. Publications such as The Independent, Drummer Magazine UK and Confluence among others have critically appreciated his style, comparing it to that of a tabla virtuoso. Heart of Rhythm documents his return to India, where he plays a classical Indian rhythm set for his master or Guruji, Pandit Suresh Talwalkar. A 15 minute short documentary, 'Heart of Rhythm' has become a passion project for both Bernhard and I in the recent months, and explores his growth and journey so far, deeply rooted in Indian culture among his other eclectic influences. A massive thank you to Naina Panemanglor for making this happen, I hope you know this wouldn't have happened without you. A shout out to my friend Omkar Khopkar for helping me out with tiny but important things. And lastly, to Bernhard, for finding a friend and a collaborator in me, and trusting me with his story.
