The Captive (2017)

This fictional short movie tells the story of an old woman who has a growing anxiety about the outside world. She feels the approaching violence trickling into her house. The only comfort zone in her mind is her memories with her deceased husband and her daughter who moved away from home to live with her boyfriend. She wants her daughter back to keep her safe from the violent outside world. The film questions the perception of safety in a patriarchal world, especially for women, through the blurry eyes of a mother who locks herself and her daughter, metaphorically her future, in between her walls. It asks that question; 'Is safety an illusion?'
