Namaste is a short film shot on 35mm film. It is a story that explores the concept of maintains balance and harmony in our lives while simultaneously exploring our tendencies as humans to judge others by common stereotypes. It is a comedic short film meant to entertain audiences of all sorts, and hopefully, expand one's mind. The story follows a woman who considers herself to be the Queen Bee of her weekly yoga class. Just as things start to test her patience and throw her balance off, a new student arrives and suddenly challenges her superior class status. Although her complete foil, this new leather-wearing Biker man executes all the difficult positions that the Yogi Queen can do, but even better. She and the handsome man battle it out in class as she desperately fights to maintain her position as the top yoga student of her class. The visual style of the film will mainly draw inspiration from famous auteur filmmakers such as Wes Anderson and Quentin Tarantino, while presenting a story similar to the dark comedic stylings of the Coen Brothers. Colors will be geared towards adding to the tonality of the film, while also expressing the character's internal worlds and personalities. The cinematography incorporates symmetrical composition accented by kinetic camera movement to add to the energetic tone of the story. Namaste is about accepting life's nadirs and zeniths, embracing the beauty of imperfection, and allowing ourselves enjoy the natural path of life. And, of course, to not judge a book by its cover.
