Four middle-aged Jutland men are relaxing in their refuge, the local bathing club sauna. Their peace and quiet is shattered when Michael, a Copenhagen artist, and Jean-Paul, a Frenchman with Moroccan ancestry enter the sauna. The foursome is bemused by the intruders' presence. Due to the language barrier created by the newcomers' English conversation and the bigoted values they perceive the situation through, the foursome begin to question the newcomers' motives for being there. As the Jutlanders and the two young interlopers move back and forth between the sauna and the sea outside at different times, the middle aged men get intermittent opportunities to discuss the situation in amongst themselves. During these conversations - and despite the protestations by Ole, the group's voice of reason - the other three old men conjure up a story that these 'outsiders' are in town for a homosexual liaison. Unbeknownst to the newcomers, tension is building amongst the foursome as they contend with whether or not they will sit idly by while these 'outsiders' corrupt their hometown. Tensions finally boil over when Peter, the man of action of the foursome, commits a hate crime against the newcomers and violently ejects them from the sauna.
