Skeptic and physics student Sonja Fitzgerald (Vida Zukauskas) finds a mysterious VHS tape in her basement one day; upon playing it she discovers it's a black-and-white film of a strange man performing a ritual. After doing some research, she discovers it is allegedly a film from the year 1594, made by the time-travelling sorcerer Var (Shawn Van Every) who harvested film equipment from the future and imprinted his spirit onto a roll of celluloid, and watching the film will release him. After dismissing this as nonsense, the seemingly invincible Var appears before Sonja and begins relentlessly attacking her.

A man punches another man in the face.

A fridge filled with bloody, pulsating organs and body parts in casserole dishes is shown.

A magician performs a "Grand Guignol"-style magic show where he eviscerates his female assistant, who appears to be in a trance, he pulls out her organs which he tosses around, and makes her eat pieces of her own liver. Although the actual eviscerations are not shown, the bloody organs are. The woman is subsequently fine.

In an apparent hallucination, a man pulls a woman's still-beating heart out of her chest and feeds it to her.

A woman slits her own throat while laughing. This causes an artery to explode and blood to gush out of the wound, which has no apparent effect on her.

A waitress brings out a plate with a severed human hand on it.

A woman peels the skin off of her face.

It is implied a man mutilates a woman's vagina off-screen with a giant, rotten fingernail; he is then shown pulling an intestine out of her body.

A woman pushes another woman off of a seat, causing her to fall on a glass, which is heard shattering.

A woman attacks another woman with a butcher knife; the woman then punches her in the face.

A guy bites into a rotten severed human arm.

A woman crawls around on broken glass.

A woman is stabbed. A bunch of cannibals begin salivating upon seeing this, and one of them kneels down and begins pulling out and eating her intestines.

A woman is stabbed in her vagina. She then falls over and crashes into a bunch of pots and pans.

A woman cuts her finger and bleeds onto a plate.

A woman shoves a pair of scissors into a man's jugular, causing blood to gush out.
