AD 50. A former lover of Empress Agrippina reveals to her a secret of an amber treasure. Furious and power-hungry Agrippina initiates an investigation. Summoned by the Empress, Burrus elaborates on the invasion of Britain and on the Centurion Aurelius, whom he had sent with a mission to bring a large amount of amber from the Sea of the North. The expedition is joined by Vespasian, who is in conflict with Aurelius. He can not stand the feelings that the Celtic princess, Orsina, has towards Aurelius. Vespasian, who had earlier murdered the Celt's family, has a strong desire for her. When the expedition reaches the amber beach, and the treasure turns out to be much larger than everyone expected, Vespasian gets rid of Aurelius in Barbaricum. To reach Rome, Aurelius is forced to cross the dark lands. He owes the successful return and, above all, his own life to Orsina, who turns out to be not only a loyal mistress, but also a skilled warrior. The return to Rome marks the end of the love between Orsina and Aurelius. Power-hungry Agrippina stands in between the lovers, with the intention to use Aurelius to gain control of the Amber Route and secure magic amber stones with inclusions providing power.
