Okzident (2018)

The first feature by German director and scriptwriter Carsten Göttel. The independent production tells the story of an intellectual suffering from dementia and his granddaughter, who is seeking success on stage, while reflecting on the history of Europe. Arthur used to be a curator for European art. Now he collects deposit bottles to feed a stray cat after the death of his wife three month ago. Triggered by her grandmothers demise Maria tries to follow in her footsteps as an actress. While Arthur's memory fades, the past is catching up with Maria.
