The Strange Case of M. Valdemar (2017)

Dr. P., a man obsessed with halting death in its tracks, convinces his dying friend, M. Valdemar to be subjected to mesmeric experimentation. Though now dead and decaying, Mr. Valdemar's consciousness is trapped between life and death, in continual torment. Unsure of what will happen when Dr. P. awakens him from his trance, M. Valdemar begs for release. When finally freed, his body is reduced to a vile sludge and Dr. P. is left to answer for his attempts to play God.
