From the root of the earth a sound is born, linked to man. Those are the voices that sing for the souls in purgatory. Every year the singers of Arbejales, in the misty hills of Gran Canaria, fulfill a ritual cycle, and for them, singing is a sacred duty. Before making these peculiar prayers songs (in desechas and coplas), they leave on foot through streets, roads, sidewalks and slopes to "ask the alms" that encourages those songs and the later masses ordered to the different parishes. Saint Isidore the Laborer is invoked in order to reveal the purpose of this hundred-year-old tradition. Tradition, mystery and fable criss-cross their paths surrounded by an exuberant nature.
