To Asmara

Set in July 1985 during LIVE AID, an Australian BBC journalist, going through personal issues of rejection, finds himself traveling through war torn Eritrea at the bequest of an attractive but tough female freedom fighter during its conflict with famine ravaged Ethiopia. As he comes to understand and feel a unity with the local Eritreans, he accumulates an unlikely group of foreign companions, including Christine Malmédy a young and vivacious girl with her own inner problems, ; an older feminist, Lady Julia, and Mark Henry, a mentally unstable and unpredictable American aid worker whose motives for being there are unclear.
