Call Jane (2022)

Set in Chicago in 1968, the story centers on Joy, a housewife who leads a traditional lifestyle with her husband and daughter. When she becomes unwantedly pregnant and her health is put at risk, she requests an abortion which is denied. Joy joins an underground organization of women activists who provide her with safe, illegal help. Premiering at the Sundance Film Festival, this drama directed by Phyllis Nagy features a sensational performance by Elizabeth Banks in a riveting and wittily narrated story.
